Into The Great Wide Yonder

sweater, & boots: goodwill, shirt: old navy, skirt: urban outfitters
Rain, rain, go away...! California is rainy and cold again, my friends. While I love the rain, and half want it to stay (to keep my surroundings as green as possible before they turn golden again...), I was so pumped for spring/summer warm weather! But anyway, I took these photos in a window of time after school that wasn't raining, but now I think it may be again. Oh well! If it lasts then I'll have a good excuse to cuddle up with hot chocolate and listen to the rain pour, with my little candle flickering... :)

Maybe this has been going on for a long time now, but I'm really starting to consider it - bloggers are making decisions to buy less and only spend money on pieces that will last and are worth it. I think this is a great idea, but I'm the kind of person that just likes to find a bunch of cute, cheap stuff. It doesn't last though... especially the said cute items from Forever 21. But I've decided when school lets out for the summer, I'm going to go through my closet and do a cleanse. I know I don't wear a lot of it, and there are pieces from Forever 21 that are gross and worn out that I'm still keeping for some reason. Anyway, I'll keep ya'll updated on what happens.

Oh, guess what I finally did? Started a tumblr, that's right! I don't know why; probably to aid me in my growing skills at procrastination... Anyway, you can find me here! :) Have a lovely Tuesday... x

  1. Ooh I love that knot ring...actually, I absolutely love your entire outfit!! You are a wiz at combining unexpected pieces, something I always want to try and do more of. It's been raining here too in PA nonstop...so I feel your pain. Stay dry:) xx Marisa

  3. I actually JUST cleaned out my wardrobe on the weekend and gave away about 20 items to my friends. I thought at the time that it was hard to part with those pieces but to be honest i haven't noticed them missing from my wardrobe at all. So i know what it's like to have items that you never wear but can't quite seem to part with! But it was worth it, I'm loving all the extra space in my wardrobe.

I keep telling my self quality over quantity but when it comes down to it all i do is thrift and its hard when things are that cheep.
Speaking of thrifting, i will have to tell you all the san francisco spots. I was talking to jen and annalise the other day...we should all go thrifting!

  8. It's been cold and rainy here all week in new york as well! I do love the rain and cozying up in a sweater, but like you said, I'm missing the spring weather as well. Anyway, this is a lovely outfit. Stripes and florals are one of my alltime favorite combinations :)

  13. Elanor, you might just be the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen! (And I mean "thing" in the best way possible.) :)

Those boots are amazing, and your haircut... ouch. Kinda makes me wanna chop all of the mess on my head off.

Also, I sooo love that fact that you actually write, not just post beautiful photos! Don't get me wrong, I love photography, but it's so great to actually get a chance to get to know the person behind the blog as well.

You have a new follower, that's for sure!

  14. Spending the money on well made items instead of cheaper, lower quality stuff does make a lot of sense. But it's sort of a double edge sword with the huge price tag that comes on a lot of those items. I myself am moving away from both those options and am trying to look towards thrift stores to find items of good quality for much cheaper. Needless to say, I'll probably be buying very little for awhile, and that's okay... because that's really what I've been trying for :)

This outfit is one of my favorites of yours and is perfectly suited to the dreary weather over half of this country seems to be experiencing lately. Mother Nature just seems to be robbing us all of a beautiful spring!
