shirt, belt, sunglasses, & flats: goodwill, purse: flea market, necklace: claires, shorts: marshalls
G'morning! These photos are from yesterday. I went with Nat to a nearby park/lake off the backroads called Stafford Lake. I have been cravings lakes lately, and unfortunately... I don't know where there are any where I live. Or at least for the kind I'm searching. You see, I used to live in Minnesota and Texas, and there seemed to be lots of opportunities to go motor boating and swimming there. I guess I have the ocean where I live now, so I should be thankful to some degree.

We hung by the water and enjoyed the smell of mint (we think it was mint, at least...) for a few hours. I tried out a newish look for myself by wearing a tied up shirt and shorts. As I've mentioned, I usually never wear shorts... but, now I suddenly have two pairs, so I might as well start wearing them!

Here's a interesting fact about me. One reason I used to never wear shorts is because of how self conscious I was/am of my legs. It's really the only major thing about myself that I wish I could change. As I've developed more of my own style I've broken out of my comfort zone a bit. I've always wanted to wear shorts, so I finally decided that I just would. I am still self conscious, but I guess it's just the small steps that have to be taken to be fully comfortable with oneself.

Anyway, a seemingly casual outfit, but one that was fine for a day of nothing too extravagant. That evening we played The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker...which is an awesome game! I know, I'm nerding myself out right now but I don't care! I think I'm semi addicted... Ooooh well... :) Have a great weekend! x

  4. Shorts look great on you! You should wear them more!
I love your tooled leather purse; I've been looking for one for ages, but they're always a bit more than I want to pay. I guess I'm holding out for that one in a million chance to find one underpriced. :)
That lake, especially photo two, reminds me of a certain, and horrific, scene in 'Zodiac'. I don't want to ruin the place for you or anything, but I just watched that movie and it totally looks similar!
...I don't know where to go from there, so I'll just say: have a lovely weekend! <3

  5. You shouldn't be so self conscious, I think your legs look great! So many girls out there I am sure wish their legs looked like yours. I know how you feel though, cause I am self conscious of my legs because I have always had big legs, and I wish they were smaller but they aren't, they are prone to develop big muscles and I don't think that is about to change...but I am slowly learning to accept that. Those shorts look wonderful on you!

About games, I am currently playing and really into Artist Colony, it is such an addictive and cute little game :)

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  7. Zelda!! Now time to exercise my nerdiness as well. haha I used to have a Gameboy Advance SP and one of my younger brother's friends gave me some Zelda game (I totally forgot what it was called), but I. Was. Obsessed. With. It. Every time I got to a new level, I would squeal in delight. Yeah. I was only 12. Or 13. haha I stopped playing video games regularly when I entered high school, and very very few people know I used to be somewhat of a casual gamer. haha

Girl, everyone's going to have something they don't like about themselves. I too have parts of myself that I'm pretty "eh" about. But I believe what makes the difference is being confidence with yourself and to not be afraid of any part of your body because our Creator had a reason to make us so unique :) Now wouldn't it be boring if we were all the same...haha

  11. I never used to wear a lot of shorts either, but seems this year I've been incorporating them into my wardrobe more often. Must be this intense heat. I'm totally loving the whole simplistic, casual look here though. Definitely perfect for summer days by the water...and you look amazing in shorts...totally nothing to worry about!! Again, your photos are gorgeous..always capturing the best of summer:)

You totally don't need to be self conscious of your legs, they are just fine. Although I understand feeling that way.
