Taking these photos yesterday, I utilized some advice that I got from Delightfully Tacky's post about taking your own outfit photos. I've had trouble in the past with getting the camera to focus on me while using a tripod and the self timer and usually I would have to pose by a tree or a fence in order for the auto focus to be correctly aligned for when I would jump in the frame. Fortunately, after reading Elizabeth's post, I learned her trick for using the auto focus and the manual focus. While I'm not bragging about these photos or anything, I'm pretty excited for this method and I can see taking my own shots becoming easier! :) It's difficult to feel like you must rely on others to take your photos and offer up their own time.
Anyway, with time I'm sure this process will go a bit faster... because I was outside standing on the sidewalk for at least 40 minutes. Haha! I know, I know... who would spend that long doing this? I guess I would...!
A quick update for you all - this weekend is the big showcase for my school that is held once a year as the ultimate fundraiser. It will be dreadful and long because it always is (hehe) but I just wanted to let you guys know in case I don't get a post set aside for Saturday... ta ta for now! xx

I loved her post! I used it to take photos yesterday! I didn't realize how easy it is to fix the focus problem! Anyways, you are always so lovely and you remind me that short hair is cute and feminine.
ReplyDeleteAwwee, I am glad that you learned a new camera trick! I'm sure it'll get easier. And there have totally been times when I took half an hour just to take outfit pictures. It's like another job, eh?
ReplyDeleteThose tights are the prettiest color! And the dotty pattern on your floral dress is just too lovely. Have a good time at your ultimate fundraiser of awesomeness and intenseness, ya hurrr?
This is so ladylike and beautiful Elanor! The whole shoot reminds me of something out of a classic novel...and that is such a lovely dress! I haven't even tried to conquer mastering taking my own photos yet....I fear it would probably be a clumsy disaster..hehe, yours are gorgeous though and make you look like a pro! Best wishes at the fundraiser! xx Marisa
ReplyDeletebeautiful, beautiful dress!
ReplyDeleteand good for you for using the tripod!
i used to do that all the time but i got so frustrated.
{plus once my tripod tipped over and smashed my lens... yes, i cried}
but it is hard relying on everyone else to have time in their schedule to help you out.
you have very beautiful face features.i really like the dress you wear and with the cardigan is super cute.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have been able to tell that you took these yourself if you didn't say so! I love your glasses and that coat is perfect. I saw Elizabeth's post and I really want to try out her tips! That auto/manual focus idea seemed brilliant! I don't have a tripod, currently, though so we'll see. plus, niklaas gets upset if I don't let him take them ;) hehe!
ReplyDeletegreat job on the photos girl! i take all my photos myself. :D
ReplyDeleteLovely photos! Great color scheme :) I can't wait to try some of Elizabeth's tips!

Love these colors! I've also found using a remote is a life saver (especially in the freezing winter), and you can just throw the remote out of the shot and it's no problem! :)
ReplyDeletelove the tied neck scarf, what a perfect touch!
