dress: the webster miami at target, purse & heels: thrifted, vintage
I said this dress would be a difficult one, didn't I? As I mentioned when I first posted about it, I really love the unique print and the fact that it's a shift dress - but these factors also make it a challenge to style! I feel like simplicity is key when trying to match up with a statement piece such as this dress, which is why I didn't elaborate on accessories. I felt a bit like Erin from Calivintage while I was wearing this today. She wears short heels and shift dresses somewhat often as you probably know... It was fun feeling like someone as cool as her. :) However, I often times feel like I don't look interesting enough when I'm dressed as simply as this. So many people look great in one layered outfits... I just feel boring. Thoughts?
Somehow I can't think of anymore I want to say for right now. So have a great Monday, & enjoy your remaining summer days where one-layering is necessary! ;) See you soon! xx

Gahh, you're so pretty! Even in just one layer ;)
ReplyDeleteI can tell you though I feel the exact same way as you; I always feel so uncreative when I wear one layer outfits. x
shhhh shhhhh you look great. gr8. the simple statement piece looks great.
ReplyDeleteI love this dress! The print on it is so cool it definitely doesn't need any extra layers. I understand how you feel about one-layer outfits though. That's why I get so bored during our very long summer. I usually just start layering even though I end up a sweat ball if I go outside.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is such a beautiful dress! I love the design and the print, so cute! :D
ReplyDeletei feel exactly the same way when i don't have tons of layers on or bold jewelry. i don't know how calivintage pulls it off so well. but you look super cute in this too! i think that pattern is pretty enough to stand alone :)
ReplyDeleteThis dress, like you said, is a statement piece on it's own, and to be honest I don't think it needs anything else stuck onto it! I mean, in the winter you could add a colorful jacket or some tights and heels but really, I think the dress is kind of its own accessory... if that makes sense! :) So you totally styled this right. It's so so pretty, though. <3
ReplyDeletei thought the same thing when i saw this dress in stores, but i think you've styled it perfectly! looks great :] xx
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing wrong with keeping it simple sometimes, and as you said a dress like this doesn't need much, it stands out all on it's own!
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job styling it :0

I love this outfit! You look so gorge in it! <3
ReplyDeleteThat dress, even though it's not your norm, looks so beautiful on you! I definitely know what you mean about feeling boring in simple outfits; however, I think I've figured out that we probably feel a lot more boring than we actually look. I wouldn't worry about it too much. :)

I think you were right that simplicity is the key for this outfit (and honestly, I didn't notice a lack of anything till you pointed out you had no accessories.) but it can be hard to leave off adding anything else. I fall victim to this all the time!
ReplyDeleteWhenever I wear one layer I think "That was way too easy" and assume I've done something wrong.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress though. I was also eyeing that cardigan they had when they did the shops at Target.

That dress is gorgeous and with that cute short hair and the shoes, you look like perfection! It might be simple but there's nothing wrong with that. The bag matches the whole outfit perfectly.
ReplyDeleteWe've talked about this before, so you totes know I'm right there with you with the whole "whyyyy can't I look as cool as other people in super simple outfits wahh" business, BUT YOU LOOK SO GOOD GURL. Love it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful look! The dress is gorgeous. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you look absolutely gorgeous and you nailed the dress right on the head! You don't look boring at all. I think you can have the best of both worlds because layering can be gorgeous as well as simplicity. I'm eclectic as crap so I like a little bit of everything!!

You do remind me of Erin of Calivintage!! I love this dress on you. Now I wish I would have bought it.
