Goals, Resolutions

2012 was a good year, but I just love that when the calenders changed like they did the first of January, it felt like I had the chance to make a new start and do a few things differently - better. I want 2013 to be a year of reaching small goals and completing small tasks. As a matter of fact, upon returning to SPU, I decided to do a sugar-hiatus. For at least the month of January, I am avoiding all candy, cookies, cakes, soda, or sweets of that sort. So far so good! I feel like we need to challenge ourselves occasionally, so here I am. I know I can't quit eating that stuff forever, but it makes me feel good to be sticking to this goal for now, and at least the rest of this month.

My other goals/resolutions are pretty straightforward - you may be surprised by one of them though! ... ;)

Read 15 Books
Like last year, this is one of my goals again for the new year. I'm hoping to just read more in general, so if all goes well, I'll have read more than fifteen books by the end of 2013! I have already begun to read The Life of Pi for one of my classes this quarter so I'm getting the ball rolling.

Make & Save Money
This isn't final yet so I haven't been wanting to share the news... but I may be getting a job at a vintage + re-purposed vintage shop in Fremont! So, naturally, it is in my intentions to make money there and put some aside.

Get Ears Double Pierced
This is a silly little "goal" but I have been wanting my ears double pierced for a while now and although it's not something that I have to get done - it would be nice to do it sometime this year in Seattle. :)

Grow Hair Out!
Yes, you read it. In my current state-of-mind, I seem to be under the impression that I am now growing my hair out. I can't promise you that I won't flee and cut it when I am so tired of dealing with it in the awkward stages... BUT for now I'm on board. I have had the pixie cut since November of 2010 and I think I'm ready for a change. Be prepared for the worst in regards to how I will look....eeuughhhh.

There you have it! Thanks for reading, lovelies.

  1. Nice list! And I'm also cutting out sugar this year, though probably later on as I still have some Christmas stuff left;)

Reading is high on my list too! And I'm doing well because I already finished my first.

And I think I might start to miss that pixie cut, though I'm sure your new hair will look great as well.

All the best to you in 2013!

  4. Growing out your hair can have "awkward" stages but there's always a cut that works! Trust your hairdresser.

  6. Those are some amazing goals! I totally agree with having more short term goals throughout the year. It makes it easier to actually do them.

I have also had a pixie cut for quite a while now, and I am also growing it out!! Haha it is at the absolute worst stage rights now though. Everyday I contemplate driving over to some random salon, and just chopping it all off. So far I am sticking to it, but I don't know how much longer I can take this! The hardest part is actually having to DO my hair. Not used to that. Reminds me why I cut it in the first place, but I needed a change haha
