Thanksgiving Day, 2013

This Thanksgiving, Rachael's family invited me home to spend the long weekend with them in Vancouver, WA. Before the traditional feast that her family does so very well, Rachael and I went on a walk around her home. The leaves have all fallen from the trees and you can tell that winter is quickly approaching from how crisp the air is against your skin. Today was definitely a Thanksgiving Day. These days it doesn't really require a special day for me to remember how thankful I am for everything I have. This quarter at SPU has went by so quickly, but every day has been a blessing. I live in Seattle, Washington and have the privilege of studying and growing at a university. I live with my best friend sleeping in the bunk under mine; sharing conversations and meals daily. I thank God every day for putting Rachael in my life. I live a two minute walk away from a certain guy who, over the past quarter, has become a very important person in my life. I'm thankful for his care and his concern; for his sincerity and for his smile.

I'm thankful that God has shown me how to trust Him, to trust others, and to trust myself. It's so essential and I'm glad to be able to say that I am growing in my trust. I'm thankful that I live a life where I have the ability to do so much and be so much. I'm thankful for fair trade coffee, I'm thankful for all the music that's out there waiting to be heard. I'm thankful for late nights with good people and even better, mornings with those people. I'm thankful for art and color and getting lost in the creating process. I'm thankful for my open eyes and seeing the beauty in every day life; in the simple things and how, in the end, they are what is most paramount.
