Turning The Tables

skirt: urban outfitters, blouse: thrifted, cardigan & shoes: goodwill, tights: target
First of all, I'm so amazed and happy to say that I hit 200 followers. I want to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart. Blogging has been amazing thus so far, and you guys have been nothing but sweet. I truly love you all. ♥

Secondly, I haven't been completely straight forward or honest about things going on in my life on this blog. That's not what I wanted - I wanted this blog to be whatever I wanted it to be, and to be able to say what I need to - good and bad. It's just a difficult task, and I don't want anyone to be intimidated by anything I say. But this is my blog. If you don't want to listen then you can leave, and I have to accept that.

It's been a while now, but it hurts all the same - Derek and I broke up. While it was more painful in the beginning (he's been gone for almost 3 months, now), I can't say it's something easy to get over; we were in a long relationship. Yet, I'm trying to live my life as it goes. Moving forward. & I'm okay, so don't worry.

Anyway, I'm still sick, which sucks. This is almost random, but do you ever feel as though your whole life you are waiting for something else? During a school day, you're waiting for after school. During a school week, you're waiting for the weekend. The rest of the time, you're waiting for that week break from school. Or summer. I feel like I'm waiting and waiting, but for nothing. I don't know what I'm looking forward to, sometimes.

On a side note, last night I wrote lyrics for a song in rock band that we are writing.
For the first time, I think I put meaning behind them. x
currently listening to... Adele - Someone Like You

  2. what?! We're going through the same stuff right now! How crazy! But I know we'll be alright. We have to be. Anyway, I hope you're feeling better... because you are truly wonderful and don't let anyone tell you differently. You have a friend here :)

Anyway, you're looking adorable! I love that top and fdhgbsdfgsdgf I feel I always say the same thing. "you look adorable" but it's true. You always do.

And about the waiting for something. I'd never thought about it, but it's true. I'm always waiting for something that... clearly doesn't exist. I'm just waiting for "stuff". This just got me thinking so much!

  3. I'm really sad to hear that, I hope you're doing okay.
Breaking up with someone is one of the hardest, most gut-wrenching times a person can go through, so I completely understand why it took you some time to share that. I hope you're doing okay. Stay strong.
On another note, I am utterly in love with this outfit :]]
Take care, I'm sure I'm not the only one who is completely behind you and sends my love.

  4. Oh, I'm sorry about you and Derek, but I'm so glad to hear you're doing better and that you have the right mindset about everything <3
I think about the whole "always waiting" thing all the time, and then I try to just focus on the current moment and what's going on right now, though that's definitely not always easy.
Anyway, I really love this outfit. The color combination is perfect, and I love your shoes.

  5. I'd love to hear your song sometime :) I know how it is to be always waiting...I'm almost 24 and still waiting for my life to start. I have to remember this IS my life sometimes.

on another note: I'd love to wear an outfit like this and not get snowy feet! The snow has not let up here no :( it's actually been snowing non-stop since the "first day of spring"... I use that term VERY loosely! haha

  6. As I was sitting in a pretty boring class today I was think about that whole always waiting around for things. For instance, my spring break is this coming week, and I'm excited. But then after that weeks over, what do I wait for? Summer. Haha, I guess that's just life. Just gotta make the most of that time spent waiting for the good things to happen, right?

Honesty is great. Especially on your very own blog. If you write it for yourself, say what you want to say. We come here to read and comment because you are genuine and real, sharing those sometimes tender parts of life is what makes it all so great. (Not saying that a break up is great, but the whole honesty thing is.)

And your top reminds me of a really cool diner waitress' uniform. Pretty, pretty. ♥

  14. I know exactly how you feel about waiting, waiting, waiting. It's time for me to start putting things in to motion instead of waiting around and hoping things will just magically happen.

I'm sorry to hear about your break up, I know those can be rough-but it seems like you have a lot of people who care about you and will help you get through to the other side.

Also, your outfit is really cute, as usual.

  17. It's good that you are being up front about sadness in your life. We all go through it and it's good when we realize that we're not alone in the struggle. You are a charming and creative girl and I'm so proud of you xoxo

  18. Hey lady!!!

those shoes! i've swooned over them on your blog before. they are my dream loafers. and your blouse was such a sweet find too! Infact this whole ensemble is a winner.

The bolinas show was a house show. Everyone camped in the yard and there were a few bands inside. Little wings played too. super bummed i missed it.

I bet its beautiful where you live. I was planning on heading up there sometime this week... any recommendations for nice hikes/thrifting?

  22. I have a hard time living "in the moment" too. I am always hurtling towards the weekend, the summer, the holidays, old age ;) but there are ways to slow yourself down and shut out the future for a little bit of "right here, right now". For me it 's mainly the blog that keeps my days from blending together so I am glad it 's getting warmer and I'll be able to take photos during weekdays again but there are lots of other things that can help. Little adventures like taking a different route to work and changing routines around the house just because. But yes, I totally know where you're coming from

Looking gorgeous :) Love your bracelet and the edging on your blouse as well as the print of your skirt and lovely loafers.

  25. I'm so sorry to hear about you and Derek, but I'm glad that you're doing better now. The Adele song that you're listening to is so beautiful, too. If you ever need to talk or anything, I'm here! <3

I definitely know what you mean about waiting for something. All through high school, I was waiting for college, and now that I'm there, I just want to graduate and get a job. When does it end?

This outfit is adorable, by the way. You are truly the queen of great goodwill finds.

  26. i live in San Fran, not far from you.

i just reread this post and my first comment, i think i was over excited to answer your question on Bolinas and i didn't even address your post.

I am so sorry to hear things have been rough for you these past three months, i know how hard it is having a broken heart. You seem like such a wonderful girl. I hope you are taking care of your self. Things will get better each day (i know its hard to see when you are living it)...
