And Just Like That

dress: vintage, flea market, purse: vintage, antique store, oxfords: vintage, blazer: thrifted, scarf: a gift
And just like that, I'm back from Thanksgiving break, and now we have 3 weeks left till winter break. Normal week, dead week, and final's week. Get ready for some nerves. Not just yet though; a day back in to school and things aren't so bad. Maybe it's because I'm going to bed a bit earlier? It's surprising how much an extra hour can help. I'm trying to get to bed by 10:30-11:00, instead of after 12. When do you get to bed and get up? A challenge for me is prioritizing and not procrastinating homework. Or these 4 college apps that I still have to get finished! Have any tips on managing my time?

These photos are from last Friday - yes, black Friday! - when my mom and I went thrifting in the city. Unfortunately it wasn't extremely successful for me and there were not crazy deals or anything. We had fun though and she took a few photos for me before the sun went down! We also ate at this really tasty cafe + bar called Luna Park. I feasted on a delicious cheese burger with avocados...mmm. I'm hungry just recalling it.

Hello to all my new followers, and likewise to my old ones! Spreadin' the love! Enjoy your Tuesday! xx

Blog Shop Talk//Puss in Boots

sweater, lace skirt, purse: vintage, thrifted, boots: goodwill, leather jacket: my mom's
Hey friends and lovelies! :) Happy Saturday! Although I have a tonnnn of AP biology homework to do today and tomorrow so I'm not sure how happy it will be for me, haha... I was going to wait a bit longer before posting today cuz my Thanksgiving post wasn't up too long, but I figured what the heck. And now I'm writing this! These photos are from last Wednesday when the boy and I spent a windy afternoon dining at IHOP, roaming San Rafael, & finished up the evening with Puss in Boots. What an adorable movie....dancing and sword fighting cats?? Can't get any cuter. GO SEE IT.

In other news, if you follow my TWITTER you'll see that I've finally put up a Shop My Closet thing for Missing Lovebirds. I've been keen to cleaning out my closet, but I don't want to donate it all (though I've donated a fair amount already). I'm hoping to make a few bucks and maybe pass on some of these pieces to you lovely people?? As of right now I'm a little shaky about my pricing and how shipping will work... Whatever I've put down for the prices and shipping costs are subject to change, fyi. So please, go check it out! I have 6 pieces up currently. Give me ANY feedback you can, please! Thankyouuu! xx

Day of Thanks

dress: forever 21, tights: target, belt & wedges: thrifted, blouse & purse: vintage
Happy late Thanksgiving, fellow Americans! I hope your day was full of good people, good food, and of course, thanks. It's so important to count your blessings and not to forget the big picture in life. Everyone has something to be thankful for - it's a crazy gift that you are even alive right now. If nothing else, be thankful for that!

I spent the day with Nathaniel and his family & relatives, which was really quite nice. The food was very delicious... in fact, I think this is the first year that I ate so much that I actually felt stuffed. Usually Thanksgiving (food-wise) just isn't my cup o' tea, but this year I guess I was just pretty hungry. ;)

I'm not really sure why these photos turned out so brightly white - the lighting must have been weird. We did these pretty quickly right before driving to Nat's family's house. Ah well, I think all's well that ends well....Have a beautiful Friday! If you're participating in Black Friday....don't get killed! xx

Beanie Weather

dress & beanie: forever 21, belt & shoes: thrifted, tights: target, cardigan: goodwill, purse: vintage
Happy Tuesday and Thanksgiving week, loves. :) I meant to post a Mixtape Monday yesterday, but it just didn't happen. I got caught up with hanging out with friends, the madness of too much pizza and snacks, and silly movies with Jim Carrey in them... haha. I love that guy. So Mixtape Monday is taking a break, if that wasn't very obvious.

I'm supposed to have a sewing lesson today, so I need to find out what's going on with that... I haven't yet talked about this yet, but I might as well now! We have "senior projects" at my high school, which are supposed to be projects that you decide on yourself that will be challenging et cetera. So I decided that I want to learn how to sew, and in the end, design and create a dress of my own. I'm excited, but pretty nervous at the same time... :o

About this outfit, I decided to center it around the beanie, because for some reason, I had a hankering to wear one. I'm not sure how thrilled I am about the overall outcome, or the lack of photos we got, but oh well! Have a good one. xx

Only Love Is All Maroon

skirt: swap, from mousevox vintage, top: gap, cardigan: mom's, belt & heels: goodwill, purse: thrifted, tights: UO
As I listen to "Flume" by Bon Iver, I recall an old friend of mine telling me that he thought the man behind Bon Iver, Justin Vernon, writes lyrics that don't exactly make sense at all - that just sound good with the music and melody. I find this funny and ironic as I now listen to this song. I actually have fallen in love with Bon Iver and the romantic, tender feeling of his music. It's lovely for late nights, with the rain falling softly outside. Which is what I'm doing now.

I spent the afternoon and evening with Nathaniel and we took these photos before the rain came... luckily I got some photos of this skirt, finally. It is part of the Secondhand Swap that I mentioned a bit ago - started by Lily of Love Charles Vintage. This skirt was sent to me along with this top from Rachel of Mousevox, who is also part of the swap. It's about time I send both pieces onto the next girl! It's been a bit too long, haha.
We browsed Goodwill for a bit, then got some pizza and spent the remainder of the night playing Sly Cooper, a pretty awesome PS2 game about a thieving raccoon. A crazy evening if you ask me. ;) We sure know how to party on a Saturday night!

It's about time for me to sleep; I apologize for this going out so late at night! I've really been wanting to blog more, but succumbing to the use of a tripod with no remote has become frustrating and not as fun as asking my boyfriend to do it... and of course, he's not always around. So, hopefully I'm going to find more things that I want to blog about, and that requires putting some thought into it and going out of the norm. Sometimes I have a hard time changing a routine. We'll see, we'll see. Have a beautiful night! xxx

The Upper Deck

chambray button-up: j crew, skirt: macy's, tights: target, wedges: thrifted, necklace: mom's
Some news: 1.) I got a haircut/trim! 2.) Tomorrow is the last day of school before Thanksgiving break! Then we have off for a week. 3.) I almost threw a 5 inch pot on the potter's wheel today! Woot! 4.) Last night my mom and I saw the Tegan and Sara "Get Along" screening in SF. Geez I love those girls. 5.) I also love this chambray button-up.

Okay, I'm done with all the numbers. Whenever I come to blog lately, I can't put my thoughts into concise words and make the thoughtful post that I want to. I kinda ramble. I don't want Missing Lovebirds to be a typical fashion blog that posts outfit and just talks about those outfits. This is supposed to be about life too, and I think I just need to work on how to speak my mind here comfortably, yet without going on and on, haha.

Btw, thanks for all the great comments on my last post!! I was quite pleasantly surprised! :) :) Have a lovely Thursday! xx

Portland, 10/21

dress & scarf: thrifted, boots: vintage, purse & sweater: ross
Aaand we are finally to the last batch of photos from my college touring trip that was last month! Geez, this has taken me awhile. ;) Oh well! This post has the most interesting photos I think. Friday, 10/21, our last day of the trip, my mom and I explored the Hawthorne area of Portland, Oregon. Portland is just so fabulous. Seattle and Portland are definitely my top two favorite locations. Unfortunately, we didn't visit any school in Portland. I think I'll be applying to Lewis and Clarke, though.

I'll let you all just check out the photos as I don't have much left to say about our trip except it was really fun & really busy! Now I just have to apply to these universities. I've applied to 4 schools already! I'm so pumped. Cross your fingers for me! xx
