As steady as a Hammer

dress: swap, mousevox vintage, belt, boots, & cardigan: goodwill, purse: ross, fox ring: c/o oasap
Thanks to those of you who looked at my first Sunday Series post and furthermore to the few of you who commented! I'm really thankful for your support. :) I'll let you in to my life a little: I have fears that if I mix things up more frequently and post more content than just outfit posts, I'll get less comments and less views and less followers. I've been longing to feel like I can post whatever I want whenever I want, but in the back of my mind I have that nagging thought that reminds me that I might just get one comment, and so I get scared. But I don't want to just post outfits - I'm sorry, I love sharing my style, but there are a lot of other things I want to share too!

I'm sure you get where I'm coming from, and I'm sure you know how I feel about stats too - even if that's not the important part. It's a reality that bloggers like to pretend don't effect them at all. But who am I kidding? I'm only human.

Anywhoo, I wore this on Sunday! This dress came in the same package as this skirt - both are from the secondhand swap I'm participating in. See how Annalise of Hummingbird Girls styled the dress HERE and see how of Rachel of Mousevox Vintage styled it HERE. :) I really adore the girls in this swap, and sending and receiving packages is just so much fun. It always brightens up my day! Have you ever done a swap? Tell me about it! xx

  2. Do what you want! It's great to see variety. I'm sure you'll notice how many true followers (and online friends) that actually take an interest. I swear some people don't read and just look at pictures and comment on that.. and it becomes repetitive to read 'cute' over and over again. Once I posted two photo shoots I did and a few people mentioned that I looked ____. It wasn't even me! There's clearly a profile picture on my sidebar too. Haha!

I do love outfit posts but I'll like to know what else you're into. I can't stop listening to that song you posted!

I want your boots and your rings!

  3. I can see where you are coming from on the fear of losing comments or followers... however, you must remember, this is YOUR blog. The people that stop by do so because they like who you are and what you create. :) Don't pressure yourself to only post things you think others will like... post what you want to, when you want to. And yes, your outfit posts are always lovely and something I enjoy looking at, I'm excited to see what other things you post in the future. xo!

  4. That's ALWAYS my problem with blogging. I tried to start a feature where I posted poetry I was reading, but it kind of fell apart when I figured people were only coming to my blog to look at my pictures, anyway. But you should absolutely post whatever you want to post! I love when my favorite bloggers share other bits and pieces of themselves (in fact, I'm going to go read your other post right after this!). No matter what you post, I'll be reading :)

  5. Elanoooor! Your fox ring! I am in love with it! That dress, too. Swaps are so much fun.

So, even though I didn't comment because I suck at commenting, I really loved your post on Sunday! I like it when bloggers mix it up and post about their inspirations and lives and stuff. I think it makes reading the blog so much more fun when it's not just straight up outfit posts. So, post about whatever you like, my dear, because I promise I will always enjoy reading it. <3

  6. I know what you mean about being nervous when mixing it up. I definitely struggle with that as well. I'm glad you tried you tried it and got some responses! I haven't read it yet, but that's just because I'm way behind in my reader. ;)

  7. Awe! Well no worries, if people truly like what you do they'll stay your followers! :) I worry about that, too, though-- sometimes I hesitate to put up my painted sticks and such and even my art because it's not an outfit post and I'm afraid people will not be interested in it!

    Anyway!

    :)

This is a lovely color combo! Reds and blues look so nice together, and those are such cool rings you have.. especially that twisty one!

  8. You look super cute! I wish I could pull off your haircut! And I know how you feel. I don't do outfit posts and wonder if that's something I could ever get in to. Do what you want and blog for YOU!

  9. Just remember... this is YOUR blog. You can post anything you want here! If someone can't accept that you want to broaden your creative outlet into other subjects, then maybe their praise and admiration really isn't worth all that much in the first place.

I for one support you in your desires to post about anything you want, be it outfit posts, recipes, weekend story tellings or anything at all. Be yourself and have fun with it and you'll attract more than enough wonderful people to read and comment and build great relationships with, trust me on this one! :)

  13. oh many amazing find on those boots! So awesome you're doing a swap w/ Rachel & Annalise, they have such amazing style just like you- I'm majorly jealous you're all doing a swap : )
& I know what you mean... and the truth is you prob would have less followers, but I just figure it's all just superficial anyway if ppl only come take a peak at outfits & leave or only comment "cute outfit," etc. Def sending good thoughts your way from your post above, certainly good to take some time off blogging when necessary.

I know what you mean about posting other content. Although I have a hard time thinking of anything else to post that would be interesting to other people haha. If you have good ideas I say go ahead and post them!
