Disposables

Over Memorial Day weekend, I decided it would be fun to buy a disposable camera and bring it to prom as well as the other events that would be occurring that weekend. I mean, when was the last time you can remember using a cheap, disposable camera bought at a drug store? My last memory would be summer camp years ago. I had no idea what the quality of the photos would be like, or if they would even turn out... But I guess that's what comes with the territory with film, non-digital cameras.

Picking these up from the local camera shop today, I was initially disappointed with the amount of the photos taken that didn't turn out (due to too dark, no flash...etc) but then again - it was luck of the draw and now I know that flash is generally always needed unless it's pure daylight out...! Out of the batch, here are a few that I liked! Other than prom on Saturday, these photos are from Sunday when Nat and I went to a James Farm show at Yoshi's in Oakland, and there's a photo of Nicole of Coco Maria from Monday! We met up in Berkeley and had a fun afternoon of shopping and eating and endless chatting... until my parents were grumpy and wanted to go home. :P

Anyway, I have another disposable camera that came in same pack as the one these photos came from, so you'll probably be seeing another post like this eventually. Despite the annoying fact that getting the film developed was 11 dollars...oh welp. Hope you had a lovely Monday! xx

  1. Aww, these turned out so well! I mean, it sucks that a bunch of them didn't work out, but at least some of them did! That picture of you and Nat is so cute :)

  2. I've been doing that as well (buy disposables)! It's so much fun! Now I just need to figure how to scan them onto my computer with a printer or a scanner, haha.

  4. Oh gosh, these pictures are too cool though! I love the look that the disposable cameras give to the pictures. Totally worth the 11 bucks?! haha. Yes! It was worth it. >:) I really want to try that in the future though... :D && glad you had fun with Nicole! I thought I recognized her up there.

  8. It's been ages since I've pick up a disposable - I think last time was before I was married and I still haven't gotten the film on that developed yet. I really love how these photos turned out - that pier one is so mysterious and eerie - digitals just don't capture that kind of effect. Your prom pictures above and below are so sweet. That vintage dress of yours was quite a fantastic find. You look like a vintage doll! Now I want to go hunt for the disposable I once had..hehe. xx Marisa

  10. As annoying as it is when they dont turn out or how expensive it is to develop them, i love the look of them when they do turn out! I guess it just reminds me of my childhood. Haha.

  11. Such a cute idea! :) I think it would be fun to take photos with a disposable camera, and then hide it for a few years...actually, I think I have inadvertently done that before, haha!

  12. i can't believe these were taken with a disposable camera! i love them!
i usually get my film developed at wal-mart and only get a disc with the pictures on it instead of getting them printed also and that saves me $5. it's usually about $6.50 there.
