Hoh Rain Forest, Spring Break 2014

I've returned from my camping expedition and still in one piece – except for a few bug bites, smoke-smelling clothing, etc etc. Despite being in a rain forest, we had pretty great weather for the 4 days we were there! We arrived late last Friday night and intended to leave Wednesday morning. Unfortunately, the rain came down heavy on Monday night (which, in the moment, was wonderful – listening to rain pelt the tent as we drifted off to sleep...) But Tuesday morning, the tent had some leakage. The rain continued all of Tuesday, so pretty quickly we decided to leave a bit early. It turned out okay though. Plus, we got to take showers and sleep in a real bed Tuesday and Wednesday night, which was much appreciated.

If you know me, or have ever known me, camping and hiking and the outdoors haven't been a part of my life since my childhood. I used to go camping with my family and my grandparents, but as I grew up, this didn't continue. It's a shame... but I guess it's better to start it up again late than never at all! I'm glad that I'm friends with people who have a love for nature and for the earth and being outdoors. I think they have influenced me to channel a part of me that hasn't been accessed in a long time. I'm grateful for that. xx
