Disposables // #2

Remember when I posted photos from a disposable camera last time? Yeah, I said that I had another camera that I'd be developing soon. Well, a couple months later...here we go! No one develops disposables in my town anymore, so I had to drive twenty minutes south to a different town to get these. Disposable film cameras are fun... but I don't really know if they are worth it. Oh well - maybe I'll just get them a couple times a year for a treat. ;)

Fortunately this time around I came away with more successful photos than last time! I learned that enough light is essential with these rinky-dink cameras. You have to use flash unless you are in complete daylight. So... that's basically what I did. I loved the surprise of taking these out of the envelope and seeing what I deemed worthy of a taking a photo of months ago. The ones shown above are from when I went to Santa Cruz with friends; a surprise mini wedding/going away party; hanging out with Lijah; and the top one is from the Rivertown Revival Festival. I really do like the film quality, even if they are kind of out of focus and grainy. It's different from my normal crisp and beautiful DSLR photos... so I like the change! If you ever post photos from a disposable camera, link me up! I'd be curious to see! xx

Hi! Happy late Sunday over here. :) My weekend sped by, to say the least. As you know, yesterday I got my first tattoo! I knew it was going to be painful in some way, but I didn't know exactly what to anticipate. It did hurt, but it wasn't that bad over all! I think the whole thing took a little over an hour and I am so pleased with it! It looks exactly how I wanted it to, and the placement is perfect as well. I went to Spider Murphy's Tattoo in San Rafael, and Heather was my artist. If you are in the area, I recommend this shop. It was a wonderful first tattooing experience!

I'm still healing, obviously, and my arm was really sore today. But I just get so excited every time I look down and see my little moth! So it was well worth it. :) Did I mention that my mom got a tattoo too? Yeah! She was the one who went with me because she wanted to get one too as a sort of mother-daughter thing to do before I leave for college. Also this doubled as my nineteenth birthday present, and I'm just fine with that. Eeeeps! What do you guys think? I'm so very happy with him and it will be lovely having this little moth travel with me for the rest of my life. xx

Knee Highs & Bubble Tea

dress: ruche, sweater: my mom's, boots & belt: thrifted, socks: forever 21, bag: marshall's
First of all, if you haven't yet, please go and ask me some questions on this post! I want to make my first vlog and I need some material! I'd really appreciate it. :) Ask me anything! In other news, do you like my socks? Haha I recently bought these and I've been pining for an opportunity to wear them and fortunately, the weather in San Francisco is always more on the chilly side. It feels like autumn over there! I haven't been one to wear knee highs in the past, but I'm trying to experiment with new layering ideas for Seattle, so I thought, why not? And I actually really enjoy them! I think with tights they will also be quite useful. Pacific northwest, I'm coming for you!

So this is what I wore yesterday for a trot to the city with a couple friends of mine. We had been planning out this visit with a few goals in mind: Japantown for bubble tea and, of course, HI-CHEW. You better believe that we were successful. Mmm. Such a delicious day; probably too much. We also went to Forever 21 in the Union Square area and I picked up a pullover sweater - see? I'm trying to get a better grasp of the whole layering thing! ;) Ahh and speaking of college... I'm just getting so impatient to get going already. I just feel like I'm in limbo and at this point, it's just making me anxious. Let me explain.

Basically, I feel like I'm playing the waiting game. Many of my friends have already moved away and are starting college, and I'm here like... "yay, summer?!" It's a good and bad things. Good, because I get more time to relax and prepare. Bad, because I just have this constant tug in me waiting for the big change. Yes, I'm scared - but I don't think I will feel better until I'm there and making the change. I'm just ready to get a move on already. I've bought my bedding, found some posters for my dorm room, bought an electric water heater... I just hate feeling like I'm waiting. Yet at this point, I feel like it's probably pretty unavoidable. The next 26 days will go by so quickly. I don't know, you guys. I'm just a bit anxious for everything. x

Question Time!

Hello darlings! I figured that since I've been blogging for over two years now, it's about time I make a VLOG! It's a bit ridiculous that I haven't yet, right? So, to make it simple and easy, my first vlog will be a question and answer. So please, ask me questions! I want to make this vlog hopefully next week - definitely before I leave for Seattle! NOW, ASK AWAY! xx

Flamingo Pink

dress: the webster miami at target, purse & heels: thrifted, vintage
I said this dress would be a difficult one, didn't I? As I mentioned when I first posted about it, I really love the unique print and the fact that it's a shift dress - but these factors also make it a challenge to style! I feel like simplicity is key when trying to match up with a statement piece such as this dress, which is why I didn't elaborate on accessories. I felt a bit like Erin from Calivintage while I was wearing this today. She wears short heels and shift dresses somewhat often as you probably know... It was fun feeling like someone as cool as her. :) However, I often times feel like I don't look interesting enough when I'm dressed as simply as this. So many people look great in one layered outfits... I just feel boring. Thoughts?

Somehow I can't think of anymore I want to say for right now. So have a great Monday, & enjoy your remaining summer days where one-layering is necessary! ;) See you soon! xx

August Adventures

What a busy Saturday! I haven't had a nice and jammed-pack day for a while now, so it was well overdue. I zoomed up to the city with my mom and we met Amanda at the Alamo Square Flea Market. Amanda used to blog, but doesn't anymore - though that isn't to say she doesn't have a presence on the internet still, haha. It was awesome getting to meet her! This summer has been a great time for meeting with bloggers in real life, and for that I'm incredibly grateful. Amanda and I found other lovely blogging gals at the flea market as well! None other than Isla, Jennifer, and Annalise. I've met these three once before and they are just so sweet and friendly. Bloggers are the best, you guys.

The rest of my day consisted of a trip to Ikea (my mom and I are trying to find the things I need for college, finally!) and then I fancied up and went to a James Bond themed party that evening. As you guys know, if I stumble across an occasion to get dressed up, I will do it. Especially when I remember that I have that whole box of vintage belonging to my great grandma. Fortunately there was a beautiful 60s number in there and I wore it proudly to the party. I got quite a few compliments on my outfit as well! I didn't get any good photos of it though. :( Next time.

I have just about a month before I leave for college. I'm hoping to make the absolute most of that time left; including two major things that are coming up quite quickly - getting my first tattoo next Saturday and turning nineteen on September 7th! Bring it.

"Instantgram"

The other day I was scrolling through Facebook and some girl posted a status about how she thought it was stupid that people posted photos of their food, or what they are doing, because she honestly, "couldn't care less about what you had for breakfast," and etc. I laughed when I read this because I (along with how many other people?) use Instagram to capture just that. What people apparently "really don't care about". Sure, I can see the silly qualities in social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter. But they are just as silly as Facebook.

And in all honesty, I personally don't put myself in the position of following people I "really don't care about" on platforms like Twitter and Instagram. If I follow you it's because I DO care about you and what you have got to say or show. It all comes back to this - if you don't like something, don't look at it. Easy as pie. Right?

Anyway, if YOU care about my random photos of breakfast or what I'm doing, then check out my Instagram - @missinglovee. If you don't care... then don't!! xx

Little Boxes

dress & brogues: thrifted, purse: estate sale, top: crossroads
For the moment I'm feeling quite accomplished. Not in a way that makes up for the anxiety I'm feeling about college...no, but thanks for asking. Haha but I've taken a step in the right direction perhaps. Today I not only successfully painted my nails, but I also made an appointment to get my first tattoo! That means this is really happening, right? Eeeps. I'm excited but nervous. Actually, I'm feeling as if what I just stated is basically my life right now. Exciting, but nerve-wracking. Change is scary, but exhilarating. I'm pumped but terrified at the same time. As for the tattoo, the appointment was made for a week from this Saturday. While I'm at it, does anyone with tattoos have suggestions for mental preparation or just preparation in general? :)

This title is a reference to the song Little Boxes by Malvina Reynolds. Currently I'm getting a kick out of the show Weeds, and of course, this song is the opening music. Anyone else watch this? If I can't say anything else about this summer (which I can, don't worry), I can say that I have been watching some good movies and TV shows. Aw yeah. That's what it's all about. ;) In fact, I think I'm going to put on the kettle, make some tea, and watch Weeds. Hmm sounds about right. xx
