Month of Maying

dress, heels, & purse: thrifted, sweater & necklace: my mom's
As May draws to a close, I'm becoming more and more ready for this summer! The weather is reaching the high 70s, school is quieting down, and everything feels all-around happy. I could just be in a good mood today - but whatever the reason...! This summer I'm looking forward to: more sleep, more sunlight, more traveling, more time, and importantly, I'm looking forward to blogging more! May turned out to be quite a less active month, but I'm hoping to be blogging much more when school is out.

For my graduation present, I believe I'll be receiving a new lens - the one I want is a 50 mm f/1.4 or 1.8. I think the factor of getting a new lens that can provide the effect I'm hoping for is something that can definitely work as an incentive to take more photos and go more places to capture memories. Random, but, on the note of photography - I may be looking to change the way I edit photos once I get the new lens. I'm getting a little bored of this way! I guess we will seeeee. 11 more days till graduation! xx

Prom, 2012

Happy Monday and Memorial Day, lovelies! How was your weekend? This past Saturday night was my senior prom! I think the number one thing that I was excited about for prom was the dressing up part... :) The process of finding my prom dress and all my accessories was long, but I think everything turned out perfectly. The dress is a vintage 1950s party dress that I bought on Etsy from Fanciness Vintage. My lovely date and boyfriend Nat sure looks dapper - don't you think? Our matching turned out perfect and I thought we were the loveliest couple at the dance! But I'm just a little bit biased, probably... ;) ♥

As for the actual prom, well, it was pretty fun! It was mostly just fun to be with Nat and to goof around a bit on the dance floor. The music was quite bad... and the grinding on the dance floor was expected but nonetheless gross... But it was still a lovely evening. It was also just interesting to see all my classmates dressed up. Everyone really looked beautiful!

I'll have more news of this long Memorial weekend for you later... for now, I need to go! Today I'm meeting up with Nicole of Coco Maria in Berkeley! I'm so excited! xxx

Peasantry

tunic: c/o oasap, cardigan & purse: goodwill, heels: thrifted, vintage, jeans: forever 21,
A surprise outfit post! Can you believe it. I didn't even plan on blogging tonight, let alone taking outfit shots. I plucked up the motivation and desire to get some good photos, and so my dad and I trekked out to the open space for a little over ten minutes and snapped away. He took a lot and I picked out these seven with some difficulty...! I'm glad I decided to jump back on the horse tonight though. I have missed taking photos and blogging. (I honestly haven't lifted up my camera in a week...)

This "dress" was given to me by Oasap, and while I think it's really cute from first glance - when I received it in the mail, I was shocked by how short it was. So, until I figure out how to style it at its short length, I decided to wear it as a tunic with jeans. I don't think it looks awkward, even though I usually think dresses with jeans do. What do you think? Have a nice night, lovebugs...! I'm so glad tomorrow is Friday. Sooo glad! xx

Oh, hi

Well, it's been a week since I last posted, hasn't it? Feels like a long, long week. I can't even remember last Tuesday, haha. I've been having a rough time lately, but I'm hoping some things in my life will get easier once this week is finished. As I've told you guys before, my senior recital was Monday and it went well! Hopefully I will be putting up footage from it eventually. Tomorrow is my senior project presentation, and I feel like once that's finished, I'll be able to relax just a bit more.

I'm not quite sure if this post signifies that I'm back from whatever unofficial break I took - but I must tell you, it was a nice break. Sometimes I question whether I should continue to blog, or at least blog about fashion, because when I think about it, sometimes I feel like it's all so pointless. I guess those are in my more negative and cynical moments... But nonetheless, I weigh both sides quite often (or at least I have been recently).

I'm getting sick, so prayers for a quick recovery would be lovely. Thank you for sticking around in a weird blogging/life time. I really appreciate and love you all. ♥

1 - Me, last week at some point.
2 - Zoey, my cute kitty, sleeeeeeping.
3 - My new (vintage) jewelry box, bought for $3 at the garage sale on Saturday.
4 - My sweet boyfriend and his family gave me flowers after my senior recital. :))

Oranges

jacket: found it, dress: ruche, belt: target, boots: goodwill
I wore this little getup on Sunday. While I guess orange is a warmer color and seems to be more for the autumnal months, I can't imagine not wearing this till this fall. It feels like it was just fall anyway, gosh darnit! I need time to slow down. A lot.

I finished up the last of my AP tests yesterday, so now I just have my senior recital (next Monday) and my senior project presentation (next Wednesday). I'll be very relieved at the end of next week! But it looks like craziness will ensue until then. This Friday is the spring concert and I will be performing in my treble choir... Saturday I'm having a huge garage sale with my friends so we can sell some of our junk before we head off to college. And next weekend is prom!  (the 26th) Eeeeek.

I feel like I haven't had time to just THINK lately, you know? While I'm definitely not constantly busy or anything (I'm much too much of a procrastinator to do that...) I still feel like I haven't really gotten to think about things; mull things over. Oh well. Life is like this some times, right? xx

A Pipe Dream

button-up: j. crew, tank top: zara, skirt: thrifted, purse: estate sale, wedges: tj maxx
I should be asleep... It's 2 o'clock in the morning and it seems that I am the most productive at these late (or is it early?) hours. Friday night it was the new blog layout; tonight it is editing these photos and forming this post. I feel at peace right now, and it could be because I'm listening to Birdy and her  hypnotic and entrancing voice.  I can't believe this girl is 15 years old. Have you been listening to her? Interestingly enough, her cover of "Skinny Love" by Bon Iver played on the radio today - and I've never even heard the original song on that station! (or any station for that matter...)

I spent Saturday shopping for prom shoes with my mom, and we were successful! I'm very excited for my whole outfit... :) It will be great fun taking photos with Nat and showing you guys later! And of course, I'm hoping prom will be enjoyable too...! Later on Saturday I saw The Avengers with my friend Miranda (that's her with the bow below). I absolutely loved the movie! Have you seen it? Every one of the super heroes had an important and vital role and no one main character trumped the others, which was cool. Anyway... I think I should go to bed now. Happy Mother's Day!! x

New Look

As you can see, Missing Lovebirds got a facelift! I was eager for some change and I had been toying with the idea of changing up the layout in a more extreme sense than I normally do - so here we are! I'm attempting a less-cluttered layout with only the essentials on the main page. Knowing me, things will change a bit here and there - but over all, I love the simplicity! Maybe a change like this is just what I needed to get my creative juices flowing and for me to be inspired again. Finger crossed! x

Some kind of nature

dress: target, wedges & purse: thrifted
I feel like I'm in a jam. Maybe it's because it's the end of my senior school year and the work is piled up to my neck, or maybe it the fact that it's a change of season... But I just feel disoriented - in many different ways. Significantly in my dressing and style. I am at a point where I'm so bored of all my clothes and I want it to go away. I've seen it all too much... or something. I feel confused with what I want to wear, as well. It's strange. And I really actually don't know what to do about it.

It would be one thing if I was just having a weird crisis and it affected what I wore and that's it - but seeing as I have a fashion/personal style blog, it affects this place as well. Do any of you have advice or suggestions for me? I'm posting what I wore today just to post something - because I'm not in love with this outfit and I'm not in love with these photos.

Maybe I'll post about what I've been up to lately later on. Have a goooood night...! xx

Instant Living

And she's at it again with the ever-so-witty, Instagram-related blog post titles! I just thought I'd post a new batch. I really love the some of these. :3 I'm hoping to take some outfit photos tonight, but right now it's far too sunny and bright out. Maybe I'll find someone to help me later on, too... who knows?! I hope your Tuesday is going well, lovelies! xx

A Sunday Smile

top & skirt: goodwill, fringe vest: forever 21 (years ago), wedges: DSW, purse: thrifted
Ever since I first heard the song, "A Sunday Smile" by Beirut, I've wanted to post something on a Sunday with that as the title. And now, finally, my wishes have come true! Instead of a Sunday Series post (which I haven't been putting much thought into lately...) I have an outfit to share with you. :) After church my parents went to this beautiful old school called St. Vincents and took photos. I loveee when I get to be in new, gorgeous areas for outfit shots. I'm excited to post these! I think they turned out great. Thank you, parents!

It's been beautiful out, but of course & unfortunately, after I hit "publish" on this post, I should really get to work with studying and essay-writing. The most difficult part of writing an essay is starting, I think. I am generally always proud of the end product though. After all, I do somewhat consider myself a good writer... ;) Wootwoot! Talk to you soon! xx
